Memorial St. Peter Claver, Priest
The heavens are telling
the glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy.
Come, dance in the forest,
come, play in the field,
and sing, sing to
the glory of the Lord.
Praise for the sun, the bringer
of day, He carries the light
of the Lord in his rays;
The moon and the stars
who light up the way
unto your throne.
The heavens are telling
the glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy.
Come, dance in the forest,
come, play in the field,
and sing, sing to
the glory of the Lord.
Praise for the wind
that blows through the trees,
the seas mighty storms,
the gentlest breeze;
They blow where they will,
they blow where they please
to please the Lord.
The heavens are telling
the glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy.
Come, dance in the forest,
come, play in the field,
and sing, sing to
the glory of the Lord.
Praise for the earth,
who makes life to grow,
the creatures You made,
to let Your life show;
the flowers and trees,
that help us to know,
the heart of love.
The heavens are telling
the glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy.
Come, dance in the forest,
come, play in the field,
and sing, sing to
the glory of the Lord.
Sing, sing to the
glory of the Lord!
PSALMODY
Ant. 1 Glorious things are said of you, O city of God.
Psalm 87
Jerusalem is mother of us all
On the holy mountain is his city *
cherished by the Lord.
The Lord prefers the gates of Zion *
to all Jacob’s dwellings.
Of you are told glorious things, *
O city of God!
“Babylon and Egypt I will count *
among those who know me;
Philistia, Tyre, Ethiopia, *
these will be her children
and Zion shall be called ‘Mother’ *
for all shall be her children.”
It is he, the Lord Most High, *
who gives each his place.
In his register of peoples he writes: *
“These are her children,”
and while they dance they will sing: *
“In you all find their home.”
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm Prayer
Lord God, your only Son wept over ancient Jerusalem, soon to be destroyed for its lack of faith. He established the new Jerusalem firmly upon rock and made it the mother of the faithful. Make us rejoice in your Church and grant that all people may be reborn into the freedom of your Spirit.
Ant. Glorious things are said of you, O city of God.
Ant. 2 The Lord, the mighty conqueror, will come; he will bring with him the prize of victory.
Canticle: Isaiah 40:10-17
The Good Shepherd: God most high and most wise
Here comes with power †
the Lord God, *
who rules by his strong arm;
here is his reward with him, *
his recompense before him.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; *
in his arms he gathers the lambs,
carrying them in his bosom, *
and leading the ewes with care.
Who has cupped in his hand the waters of the sea, *
and marked off the heavens with a span?
Who has held in a measure the dust of the earth, †
weighed the mountains in scales *
and the hills in a balance?
Who has directed the spirit of the Lord, *
or has instructed him as his counselor?
Whom did he consult to gain knowledge? †
Who taught him the path of judgment, *
or showed him the way of understanding?
Behold, the nations count as a drop of the bucket, †
as rust on the scales; *
the coastlands weigh no more than powder.
Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, *
nor its animals be enough for holocausts.
Before him all the nations are as nought, *
as nothing and void he accounts them.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. The Lord, the mighty conqueror, will come; he will bring with him the prize of victory.
Ant. 3 Give praise to the Lord our God, bow down before his holy mountain.
Psalm 99
Holy is the Lord our God
The Lord is king; the peoples tremble. †
He is throned on the cherubim; the earth quakes. *
The Lord is great in Zion.
He is supreme over all the peoples. †
Let them praise his name, so terrible and great. *
He is holy, full of power.
You are a king who loves what is right; †
you have established equity, justice and right; *
you have established them in Jacob.
Exalt the Lord our God; †
bow down before Zion, his footstool. *
He the Lord is holy.
Among his priests were Aaron and Moses, †
among those who invoked his name was Samuel. *
They invoked the Lord and he answered.
To them he spoke in the pillar of cloud. †
They did his will; they kept the law, *
which he, the Lord, had given.
O Lord our God, you answered them. †
For them you were a God who forgives; *
yet you punished all their offenses.
Exalt the Lord our God; †
bow down before his holy mountain *
for the Lord our God is holy.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm Prayer
God, you are the source of all holiness. Though no one can see you and live, you give life most generously, and in an even greater way restore it. Sanctify your priests through your life-giving Word, and consecrate your people in his blood until our eyes see your face.
Ant. Give praise to the Lord our God, bow down before his holy mountain.
1st Reading
Col 3:12-17
A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Colossians
Brothers and sisters:
Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved,
heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
bearing with one another and forgiving one another,
if one has a grievance against another;
as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.
And over all these put on love,
that is, the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ control your hearts,
the peace into which you were also called in one Body.
And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,
as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another,
singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or in deed,
do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
Ps 150:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6
℟. (6) Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the LORD in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.
Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.
℟. Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp,
Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.
℟. Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.
Let everything that has breath
praise the LORD! Alleluia.
℟. Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Alleluia, Alleluia.
If we love one another,God remains in us,
and his love is brought to perfection in us.
Alleluia, Alleluia.
Gospel
Lk 6:27-38
✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke
Jesus said to his disciples:
“To you who hear I say, love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you.
To the person who strikes you on one cheek,
offer the other one as well,
and from the person who takes your cloak,
do not withhold even your tunic.
Give to everyone who asks of you,
and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back.
Do to others as you would have them do to you.
For if you love those who love you,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners love those who love them.
And if you do good to those who do good to you,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners do the same.
If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners lend to sinners,
and get back the same amount.
But rather, love your enemies and do good to them,
and lend expecting nothing back;
then your reward will be great
and you will be children of the Most High,
for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.
Be merciful, just as also your Father is merciful.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.”
At the end of the Gospel, the Deacon, or the Priest, acclaims:
The Gospel of the Lord.
All reply:
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Then he kisses the book, saying quietly:
Through the words of the Gospel
may our sins be wiped away.
Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of
the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right
hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the
Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in One, Holy,
Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism
for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to
the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Lord, we gather today, in your house we kneel down and pray.
We ask for your mercy as we
open our hearts to receive your forgiveness, O Lord.
Lord, we lift up to you, all these gifts we offer for your glory.
We will eat this living bread,
we will drink this saving cup,
and feel your presence, O Lord.
As we offer this bread and
as we bring you this wine,
bless them Lord Jesus,
feed us now, give us life.
Send us your spirit,
the source of our lives,
and together we will
serve you with love.
As we offer this bread and
as we bring you this wine,
bless them Lord Jesus,
feed us now, give us life.
Send us your spirit,
the source of our lives,
and together we will
serve you with love.
Dan Schutte, SJ
Holy, holy, holy
Lord God of Hosts.
Heaven and Earth are full,
are full of Your glory.
Hosanna, hosanna,
hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes,
who comes in the

Hosanna, hosanna,
hosanna in the highest.

We proclaim your Death,
O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.
M.V. Francisco, SJ
Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread, and
forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who
trespass against us;
and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us,
deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
have mercy on us,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
have mercy on us,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
grant us peace.
I received the living God,
and my heart is full of joy.
I received the living God,
And my heart is full of joy.
Jesus said: I am the Bread
Kneaded long to give you life;
You who will partake of me
Need not ever fear to die.
I received the living God,
and my heart is full of joy.
I received the living God,
And my heart is full of joy.
Jesus said: "I am the Way,
and my Father longs for you;
so I come to bring you home
to be one with him anew."
I received the living God,
and my heart is full of joy.
I received the living God,
And my heart is full of joy.
Jesus said: "I am the Truth;
if you follow close to me,
you will know me in your heart,
and my word shall make
you free."
I received the living God,
and my heart is full of joy.
I received the living God,
And my heart is full of joy.
Jesus said:
"I am the Life far from
whom no thing can grow,
but receive this living bread,
and my Spirit you shall know."
I received the living God,
and my heart is full of joy.
I received the living God,
And my heart is full of joy.
Gospel Canticle
Ant. What you say of me does not come from yourselves; it is the Spirit of my Father speaking in you.
Canticle of Zechariah
Luke 1:68-79
The Messiah and his forerunner
Blessed + be the Lord, the God of Israel; *
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior, *
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old †
that he would save us from our enemies, *
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers *
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham: *
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear, *
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; *
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation *
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God *
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, *
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. What you say of me does not come from yourselves; it is the Spirit of my Father speaking in you.
Sinong makapaghihiwalay
sa atin sa pag-ibig ni Kristo?
Sinong makapaghihiwalay
sa atin sa pag-ibig ng Diyos?
Paghihirap ba, kapighatian?
Pag-uusig o gutom o tabak?
At kahit na nga kamatayan,
walang makapag-hihiwalay
sa atin sa pag-ibig ng Diyos.
Sinong makapaghihiwalay
