Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
All the ends of the earth,
all you creatures of the sea,
Lift up your eyes to the
wonders of the Lord.
For the Lord of the earth,
the master of the sea,
Has come with justice
for the world.
Break into song at the deeds of the Lord,
The wonders God has done in every age.
All the ends of the earth,
all you creatures of the sea,
Lift up your eyes to the
wonders of the Lord.
For the Lord of the earth,
the master of the sea,
Has come with justice
for the world.
Heaven and earth shall rejoice in his might;
Every heart, every nation call him Lord.
All the ends of the earth,
all you creatures of the sea,
Lift up your eyes to the
wonders of the Lord.
For the Lord of the earth,
the master of the sea,
Has come with justice
for the world.
The Lord has made salvation known,
Faithful to the promises of old.
Let the ends of the earth,
let the sea and all it holds
Make music before our King!
All the ends of the earth,
all you creatures of the sea,
Lift up your eyes to the
wonders of the Lord.
For the Lord of the earth,
the master of the sea,
Has come with justice
for the world.
Psalmody
PSALMODY
Ant. 1 As morning breaks I look to you, O God, to be my strength this day, alleluia.
Psalm 63:2-9
A soul thirsting for God
O God, you are my God, for you I long; *
for you my soul is thirsting.
My body pines for you *
like a dry, weary land without water.
So I gaze on you in the sanctuary *
to see your strength and your glory.
For your love is better than life, *
my lips will speak your praise.
So I will bless you all my life, *
in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul shall be filled as with a banquet, *
my mouth shall praise you with joy.
On my bed I remember you. *
On you I muse through the night
for you have been my help; *
in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
My soul clings to you; *
your right hand holds me fast.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm Prayer
Father, creator of unfailing light, give that same light to those who call to you. May our lips praise you; our lives proclaim your goodness; our work give you honor, and our voices celebrate you for ever.
Ant. As morning breaks I look to you, O God, to be my strength this day, alleluia.
Ant. 2 From the midst of the flames the three young men cried out with one voice: Blessed be God, alleluia.

Cold and chill, bless the Lord.
Dew and rain, bless the Lord. *
Frost and chill, bless the Lord.
Ice and snow, bless the Lord. *
Nights and days, bless the Lord.
Light and darkness, bless the Lord. *
Lightnings and clouds, bless the Lord.
Let the earth bless the Lord. *
Praise and exalt him above all forever.
Mountains and hills, bless the Lord. *
Everything growing from the earth, bless the Lord.
You springs, bless the Lord. *

Ant. 3 Let the people of Zion rejoice in their King, alleluia.
Psalm 149
The joy of God’s holy people.
Sing a new song to the Lord, *
his praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel rejoice in its maker, *
let Zion’s sons exult in their king.
Let them praise his name with dancing *
and make music with timbrel and harp.
For the Lord takes delight in his people. *
He crowns the poor with salvation.
Let the faithful rejoice in their glory, *
shout for joy and take their rest.
Let the praise of God be on their lips *
and a two-edged sword in their hand,
to deal out vengeance to the nations *
and punishment on all the peoples;
to bind their kings in chains *
and their nobles in fetters of iron;
to carry out the sentence pre-ordained; *
this honor is for all his faithful.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm Prayer
Let Israel rejoice in you, Lord, and acknowledge you as creator and redeemer. We put our trust in your faithfulness and proclaim the wonderful truths of salvation. May your loving kindness embrace us now and for ever.

1st Reading
Mal 3:19-20a
A reading from the Book of the Prophet Malachi
Lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven,
when all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble,
and the day that is coming will set them on fire,
leaving them neither root nor branch,
says the LORD of hosts.
But for you who fear my name, there will arise
the sun of justice with its healing rays.
Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
℟. (cf. 9) The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.
Sing praise to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
sing joyfully before the King, the LORD.
℟. The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.
Let the sea and what fills it resound,
the world and those who dwell in it;
let the rivers clap their hands,
the mountains shout with them for joy.
℟. The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.
Before the LORD, for he comes,
for he comes to rule the earth,
He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with equity.
℟. The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice.
2nd Reading
2 Thes 3:7-12
A reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians
Brothers and sisters:
You know how one must imitate us.
For we did not act in a disorderly way among you,
nor did we eat food received free from anyone.
On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day
we worked, so as not to burden any of you.
Not that we do not have the right.
Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you,
so that you might imitate us.
In fact, when we were with you,
we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work,
neither should that one eat.
We hear that some are conducting themselves among you in a disorderly way,
by not keeping busy but minding the business of others.
Such people we instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly
and to eat their own food.
Thanks be to God.
Alleluia, Alleluia.
Stand erect and raise your heads
because your redemption is at hand.
Alleluia, Alleluia.
Gospel
Lk 21:5-19
✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke
While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, “All that you see here—
the days will come when there will not be left
a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”
Then they asked him,
“Teacher, when will this happen?
And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?”
He answered,
“"See that you not be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying,
‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’
Do not follow them!
When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first,
but it will not immediately be the end."”
Then he said to them,
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues
from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.
“Before all this happens, however,
they will seize and persecute you,
they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons,
and they will have you led before kings and governors
because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony.
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,
for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking
that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.
You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends,
and they will put some of you to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.
By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”
At the end of the Gospel, the Deacon, or the Priest, acclaims:
The Gospel of the Lord.
All reply:
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Then he kisses the book, saying quietly:
Through the words of the Gospel
may our sins be wiped away.
The Creed is said.
Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of
the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right
hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the
Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in One, Holy,
Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism
for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to
the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
O Lord, God of all creation,
now we come to You.
Bringing this gift,
the bread of life, with
hearts full of love we offer.
O Lord, God of all creation,
now we come to You.
Bringing this gift, the cup of life,
with hearts full of love we offer.
Bless us, O Lord
as we gather, and accept
these gifts we offer,
fruit of our labor and
work of our hands.
Bless us, O Lord all our days.
Bless us, O Lord
as we gather, and accept
these gifts we offer,
fruit of our labor and
work of our hands.
Bless us, O Lord all our days.
Bless us, O Lord all our days.
Dan Schutte, SJ
Holy, holy, holy
Lord God of Hosts.
Heaven and Earth are full,
are full of Your glory.
Hosanna, hosanna,
hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes,
who comes in the
name of the Lord.
Hosanna, hosanna,
hosanna in the highest.
M.V. Francisco, SJ
When we eat this Bread
and drink this Cup,
we proclaim your Death,
O Lord,
until you come again,
until you come again,
we proclaim your Death,
O Lord.
M.V. Francisco, SJ
Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread, and
forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who
trespass against us;
and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us,
deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
have mercy on us,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
have mercy on us,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
grant us peace.
You shall cross the
barren desert, but you
shall not die of thirst.
You shall wander far in safety
though you do not know the way.
You shall speak your words
in foreign lands and all
will understand.
You shall see the face of God and live.
Be not afraid.
I go before you always.
Come, follow me,
and I will give you rest.
If you pass through
raging waters in the sea,
you shall not drown.
If you walk amid the
burning flames,
you shall not be harmed.
If you stand before the
pow'r of hell and death
is at your side, know that I am with you through it all.
Be not afraid.
I go before you always.
Come, follow me,
and I will give you rest.
Blessed are your poor,
for the kingdom shall be theirs.
Blest are you that
weep and mourn, for
one day you shall laugh.
And if wicked men
insult and hate you all
because of Me,
blessed, blessed are you!
Be not afraid.
I go before you always.
Come, follow me,
and I will give you rest.
Gospel Canticle
Ant. They will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great glory and majesty.
Canticle of Zechariah
Luke 1:68-79
The Messiah and his forerunner
Blessed + be the Lord, the God of Israel; *
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior, *
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old †
that he would save us from our enemies, *
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers *
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham: *
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear, *
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; *
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation *
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God *
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, *
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. They will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great glory and majesty.
God’s spirit is in my heart.
He has called me and set me apart.
This is what I have to do.
What I have to do.
He sent me to give the
good news to the poor,
tell pris’ners that they are pris’ners no more.
Tell blind people that they
can see and set the downtrodden free
And go tell ev’ryone the
news that the kingdom of God has come.
And go tell ev’ryone the news that God's kingdom has come.
Just as the father sent me,
so I’m sending you out to be
my witnesses throughout the world, the whole of the world.
He sent me to give the
good news to the poor,
tell pris’ners that they are pris’ners no more.
Tell blind people that they
can see and set the downtrodden free
And go tell ev’ryone the
news that the kingdom of God has come.
And go tell ev’ryone the news that God's kingdom has come.
