Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Come to the feast of
heaven and earth!
Come to the table of plenty!
God will provide
for all that we need,
here at the table of plenty.
O come and sit at my table
where saints and sinners
are friends.
I wait to welcome the lost
and lonely to share the
cup of my love.
Come to the feast of
heaven and earth!
Come to the table of plenty!
God will provide
for all that we need,
here at the table of plenty.
O come and eat without money;
come to drink without price.
My feast of gladness
will feed your spirit with faith
and fullness of life.
Come to the feast of
heaven and earth!
Come to the table of plenty!
God will provide
for all that we need,
here at the table of plenty.
My bread will ever sustain you
through days of sorrow and woe.
My wine will flow
like a sea of gladness to
flood the depths of your soul.
Come to the feast of
heaven and earth!
Come to the table of plenty!
God will provide
for all that we need,
here at the table of plenty.
Your fields will flower in
fullness; your homes
will flourish in peace. For I,
the giver of home and harvest, will send my rain to the soil.
Come to the feast of
heaven and earth!
Come to the table of plenty!
God will provide
for all that we need,
here at the table of plenty.
Psalmody
PSALMODY
Ant. 1 Glorious is the Lord on high, alleluia.
Psalm 93
Splendor of God the Creator
The Lord is king, with majesty enrobed; †
the Lord has robed himself with might, *
he has girded himself with power.
The world you made firm, not to be moved; †
your throne has stood firm from of old. *
From all eternity, O Lord, you are.
The waters have lifted up, O Lord, †
the waters have lifted up their voice, *
the waters have lifted up their thunder.
Greater than the roar of mighty waters †
more glorious than the surgings of the sea, *
the Lord is glorious on high.
Truly your decrees are to be trusted. †
Holiness is fitting to your house, *
O Lord, until the end of time.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm Prayer
All power and all authority in heaven and earth have been given to you, Lord Jesus; you rule with decrees that are firm and trustworthy. Be with us always so that we may make disciples whose holiness will be worthy of your house.

Ant. 2 To you, Lord, be highest glory and praise for ever, alleluia.

Psalm 148
Praise to the Lord, the Creator
Praise the Lord from the heavens, *
praise him in the heights.
Praise him, all his angels, *
praise him, all his host.
Praise him, sun and moon, *
praise him, shining stars.
Praise him, highest heavens *
and the waters above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the Lord. *
He commanded: they were made.
He fixed them for ever, *
gave a law which shall not pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth, *
sea creatures and all oceans,
fire and hail, snow and mist, *
stormy winds that obey his word;
all mountains and hills, *
all fruit trees and cedars,
beasts, wild and tame, *
reptiles and birds on the wing;
all earth’s kings and peoples, *
earth’s princes and rulers,
young men and maidens, *
old men together with children.
Let them praise the name of the Lord *
for he alone is exalted.
The splendor of his name *
reaches beyond heaven and earth.
He exalts the strength of his people. *
He is the praise of all his saints,
of the sons of Israel, *
of the people to whom he comes close.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm Prayer
Lord, extolled in the heights by angelic powers, you are also praised by all earth’s creatures, each in its own way. With all the splendor of heavenly worship, you still delight in such tokens of love as earth can offer. May heaven and earth together acclaim you as king; may the praise that is sung in heaven resound in the heart of every creature on earth.
Ant. Praise the Lord from the heavens, alleluia.

1st Reading
Wis 11:22-12:2
A reading from the Book of Wisdom
Before the LORD the whole universe is as a grain from a balance
or a drop of morning dew come down upon the earth.
But you have mercy on all, because you can do all things;
and you overlook people's sins that they may repent.
For you love all things that are
and loathe nothing that you have made;
for what you hated, you would not have fashioned.
And how could a thing remain, unless you willed it;
or be preserved, had it not been called forth by you?
But you spare all things, because they are yours,
O LORD and lover of souls,
for your imperishable spirit is in all things!
Therefore you rebuke offenders little by little,
warn them and remind them of the sins they are committing,
that they may abandon their wickedness and believe in you, O LORD!
Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
℟. (cf. 1) I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
I will extol you, O my God and King,
and I will bless your name forever and ever.
Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.
℟. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
The LORD is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
The LORD is good to all
and compassionate toward all his works.
℟. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might.
℟. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
The LORD is faithful in all his words
and holy in all his works.
The LORD lifts up all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
℟. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
2nd Reading
2 Thes 1:11-2:2
A reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians
Brothers and sisters:
We always pray for you,
that our God may make you worthy of his calling
and powerfully bring to fulfillment every good purpose
and every effort of faith,
that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you,
and you in him,
in accord with the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.
We ask you, brothers and sisters,
with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
and our assembling with him,
not to be shaken out of your minds suddenly, or to be alarmed
either by a “spirit,” or by an oral statement,
or by a letter allegedly from us
to the effect that the day of the Lord is at hand.
Thanks be to God.
Alleluia, Alleluia.
God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might have eternal life.
Alleluia, Alleluia.
Gospel
Lk 19:1-10
✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke
At that time, Jesus came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town.
Now a man there named Zacchaeus,
who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man,
was seeking to see who Jesus was;
but he could not see him because of the crowd,
for he was short in stature.
So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus,
who was about to pass that way.
When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said,
“Zacchaeus, come down quickly,
for today I must stay at your house.”
And he came down quickly and received him with joy.
When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying,
“He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord,
“Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor,
and if I have extorted anything from anyone
I shall repay it four times over.”
And Jesus said to him,
“Today salvation has come to this house
because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.
For the Son of Man has come to seek
and to save what was lost.”
At the end of the Gospel, the Deacon, or the Priest, acclaims:
The Gospel of the Lord.
All reply:
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Then he kisses the book, saying quietly:
Through the words of the Gospel
may our sins be wiped away.
The Creed is said.
Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of
the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right
hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the
Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in One, Holy,
Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism
for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to
the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Lord, we gather today, in your house we kneel down and pray.
We ask for your mercy as we
open our hearts to receive your forgiveness, O Lord.
Lord, we lift up to you, all these gifts we offer for your glory.
We will eat this living bread,
we will drink this saving cup,
and feel your presence, O Lord.
As we offer this bread and
as we bring you this wine,
bless them Lord Jesus,
feed us now, give us life.
Send us your spirit,
the source of our lives,
and together we will
serve you with love.
As we offer this bread and
as we bring you this wine,
bless them Lord Jesus,
feed us now, give us life.
Send us your spirit,
the source of our lives,
and together we will
serve you with love.
Dan Schutte, SJ
Holy, holy, holy
Lord God of Hosts.
Heaven and Earth are full,
are full of Your glory.
Hosanna, hosanna,
hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes,
who comes in the
name of the Lord.
Hosanna, hosanna,
hosanna in the highest.
M.V. Francisco, SJ
Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread, and
forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who
trespass against us;
and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us,
deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
have mercy on us,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
have mercy on us,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world,
grant us peace.
In Him alone is our hope;
In Him alone is our strength.
In Him alone are we justified;
In Him alone are we saved.
What have we to offer
that does not fade or wither?
Can the world ever satisfy
the emptiness in our hearts
in vain we deny?
In Him alone is our hope;
In Him alone is our strength.
In Him alone are we justified;
In Him alone are we saved.
When will you cease running
In search of hollow meaning?
Let His love feed the hunger
in your soul, ‘til it overflows
with joy you yearn to know.
In Him alone is our hope;
In Him alone is our strength.
In Him alone are we justified;
In Him alone are we saved.
Gospel Canticle
Ant. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.
Canticle of Zechariah
Luke 1:68-79
The Messiah and his forerunner
Blessed + be the Lord, the God of Israel; *
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior, *
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old †
that he would save us from our enemies, *
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers *
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham: *
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear, *
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; *
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation *
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God *
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, *
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.
Till the end of my days
O Lord,
I will bless your name.
Sing your praise,
give You thanks, all my days.
You have made me little
less than a god
And have lavished my heart
with your love
With dignity and honor
you've clothed me
Given me rule over all.
Till the end of my days
O Lord,
I will bless your name.
Sing your praise,
give You thanks, all my days.
You have blessed me
with good things and plenty
And surrounded my table
with friends
Their love and their laughter enrich me;
Together we sing your praise
Till the end of my days
O Lord,
I will bless your name.
Sing your praise,
give You thanks, all my days.
Your sun and your moon
give me light
And your stars show the way through the night
Your rivers and streams
have refreshed me
I will sing your praise
Till the end of my days
O Lord,
I will bless your name.
Sing your praise,
give You thanks, all my days.
How great is your love, O Father
that you sent us your Savior Son,
His death and his rising will heal
us and draw us all unto you.
Till the end of my days
O Lord,
I will bless your name.
Sing your praise,
give You thanks, all my days.
